Originating in France, Marans are generally quiet and docile. With handling, they are very tame and friendly.  They do well free ranging in rough terrain and are also tough and adaptable. Our hens lay a lovely dark brown egg and produce nice hearty chicks.

Marans are historically a dual-purpose bird, and are prized for their quaility meat.
